As a result of Robert C. Byrd's terrific season, head coach Richard Iaquinta has been named both Harrison County and Big Ten Conference "Coach of the Year."
Needless to say, his sister, and our classmate, Sandra Iaquinta, is bubbling over with pride at his success. After many years as an assistant at Bridgeport, Richard has made the most of this opportunity to be the head man.
Let's all wish him well.
REX ZICKEFOOSE
Thanks Roleta for your interest. I don't know if being a great grandfather is such a good feeling or not but I am working on it. My wife, Carol, got back Sunday from visiting our kids and grand kids as well as seeing Nathaniel for the first time. He was born 7 December weighing in at 6 lbs. 6 oz.. Delivery was by c-section and he was about 3 weeks early. He could have been a Christmas or New Year Baby if he went full term. Carol took several minutes of video and he is one handsome dude. Most important he is healthy. The grandparents are Garry and Beth Overby and parents are Jason Jackson and Misty Rae Locke(granddaughter). They all live in the vicinity of Crewe, Virginia.
Rex Zickefoose resides in Doddridge County, WV. He retired from the Navy after 30 years of service. Rex returned to WV 12 years ago and has been keeping a low profile while raising kids, farming, hunting and fishing. Send him an e-mail at rzick@webcombo.net
ED WHITE
Ed White met his wife Helle at the University of Michigan. Helle is from Denmark. They married in 1965 after he was discharged from the Navy. In 1969 they moved to Texas where they still live. They have 3 children: Mark-17, Heather-21, and Bryan-27. Bryan is married and in the US Army. Ed works at MCI World Com in Richardson, TX. Ed has been a ham radio operator since 1957. Send Ed an e-mail at: ewhite@villageschool.com
We are glad we have found these 2 ("lost") classmates.
ELAINE FOWLER BOWLING Zarvon@aol.com
In 1998 Elaine and husband, Carlisle, were threatened by fires in Flagler Beach, Fl. In 1999 they lived through threats from 3 hurricanes. Many of us kept in touch with them during the evacuation from their flower and gift shop about 4 doors from the beach. They survived and the store fared well too. However, many of the neighboring stores were completely destroyed. Elaine and Carlisle celebrated their 34 th wedding anniversary on August 14. Congratulations on your endurance!!! Carlisle continues working on their family genealogies. He now has 14,000 relatives in his data base. Carlisle applied for a membership in Sons of the American Revolution but the membership was set aside because he could not definitely prove on paper that his great, great, great, great grandfather Jeremiah Moles was the father of Joseph Moles. Joseph Moles was the father of Nancy E. Moles who married William Green Bowling in 1833. Anyone sharing the same ancestors should contact Carlisle via e-mail.
JUDY DAVIS PINTI
The Pinti family has a lot of large family gatherings over holidays and since my mother-in-law is no longer able to function we must do it for her. I was really excited to hear from you though. I think of you every time I go past the house you use to live in as you were growing up on Milford Street. Yes, you use to come to my house and I spent time at your house also. I have been married for 39 years as of last August to Nick Pinti. He graduated the year before we did. We lived in Kansas for three years. Then we moved back to Clarksburg. I have two children. Dave is 36 and Beth Ann is 30. She has blessed us with two granddaughters who are 5 and 2. They lived in Cincinnati but last May came back home so grandchildren and grandparents could be together. Brian is starting a business out of his home as a "headhunter" on the Internet. Beth Ann is a physical therapist. I have worked for 13 years for the Board of Education as a classroom aide for special education at Lincoln. I can't remember what all was in your letter but perhaps this will get you caught up on me. I hope to hear from you again. My husband's class is trying to get a reunion together for next Labor Day. Thanks again for writing. Judy Davis Pinti
EDITOR'S NOTE: E-mail Judy at WVPINTI@aol.com ---encourage her to check out this web site, she only uses the home computer to check and send e-mail.
Have you checked out the reunion page recently? Judy received some reunion pictures from Frank and Sandy Iaquinta. You can find these new pictures on page 29 of the Reunion section. We would still like to see any pictures you have. If you have reunion pictures, it isn't too late to send them to Judy. If you have any old pictures of anything of interest to Clarksburg(ites) or WI alumni, send to Judy for the MEMORIES page. If you have a picture that we could use in the newsletter, send to Roleta. Thanks.
An idea....it would be interesting for classmates to send in a favorite picture to share with everyone and print them as they come in.I enjoy reading your newsletter so much and think it's wonderful that your class cares enough to keep it going.
Editor's note---Many of you now have scanners, it would be nice to see a recent picture of you. Maybe then at the next reunion, we would be able to recognize you. LOL. So scan and e-mail that picture to Roleta1@aol.com and we will put you in the newsletter. I like having pictures in the newsletter.
Yes, we enjoyed ourselves so much at the July 40th Class Reunion that some of us are going to get together again---just for the fun of it! And there is another reason, many of our frineds live or winter in Florida and didn't make it to the reunion so we want to see them also. Plans are in the making...Sarasota, Florida is the place. Carolyn Rector is coordinating the plans....the dates are Feb. 18, 19 and 20th in the year of 2000. If you know anyone from any WI class who will be in Florida at that time have them contact Carolyn White Rector at CRector1@aol.com or Connie Bailey Casto at
CASTOCA@aol.com for further information..
Are you planning to move? May I make a strong suggestion? When you move , notify me of your change of address. Even if you get a new e-mail address.
It is so hard to find lost classmates and we don't want you to be one of them.
We still have some classmates who are missing. Well, maybe they aren't really missing but we can't find them. If you have any information concerning any of the following missing classmates, please e-mail me. We want to find and keep in contact with all of our classmates. Still missing are: Ray Allen, Martin Ashland, Vivian Gillespie, Judy Grant Prout, Louella Knight Wiseman, Loretta Mayer, Terry McAtee, Richard McIntere, Sandy Moran Ferguson, John J. Murphy, Mike Lee Swiger, Peggy Tibbs, Peggy Robinson Michael, Bernard Snyder, and Robert Neal.... We had a lead on John Murphy living in Wichita, Kansas area, but then later someone suggested Smyrna, Ga. we haven't been able to find him either place. Does anyone know what his profession might be? Maybe that would help in the search. Phil Gloss is helping with the classmate search but he needs some leads.

Do you recognize this building? The picture may be old but the building hasn't changed much has it? This was pre Stonewall Jackson statue days.Didn't NaNas 10 live in the Goff Building? Anyone remember washing the courthouse steps with a paper cup of water and a toothbrush? Was that intended to humble some of the freshmen girls? I don't think it worked! We enjoyed it too much!
Didn't we get our Salk vacines in the courthouse? Everyone lined up and took their turns. I see pictures of that event all the time and the pictures look so old. That surely didn't happen that way to us, we are too young. Oh memories!
Sgt. Bil McGahan (son of our Sharyn Cottrill McGahan) has joined a very elite group, both nationally and locally. Recently Bil became just the fifth Clarksburg officer to graduate from the prestigious FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Va. Bil had been attending the academy since October 3, 1999.
editor's note: Sharyn and Jim are very proud of their son. Sharyn was anxious to boast that he graduated with straight A's. She certainly has room to boast. Let's shout it from the roof tops--CONGRATULATIONS SGT. BIL MCGAHAN !!!
We had a wonderful Christmas and New Years with the family and grand children. Everyone got what they wanted....Bob and I are going on a cruise next month for a week with five other couples. We will be traveling on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines to San Juan, Aruba, Caracas, St. Marten, and St. Thomas. I am really looking forward to it.
My mother has been sick this year, but seems to be doing okay now. Hope we can bypass the flu, so far we've been lucky. Happy New Year to everyone......Nancy
EDITOR'S NOTE---Nancy's e-mail address has changed, please make note of the new address.
Did you serve in the Armed Forces? I have discovered many classmates have served. Would you please take a minute and send me your name and branch of service and the name of any other classmates who served our country? Did we lose any classmates in Viet Nam? I don't know of any do you? I think this is a historical part of our class and should be so noted. I will list the names in the next newsletter.
Well, we made it didn't we? Happy New Year 2000!!! The biggest "sham" or is it "shame" of 1999 was the "Big Y2K" scare.
I am so glad I was involved in the 1999 WI class reunion. I am STILL very thankful to Phyllis Brown and Joy Gregorie Stalnaker for all of the wonderful work they did in Clarksburg to help bring us all together. It was wonderful to see all of you who could make it. It is now a great pleasure to be in touch with old friends via e-mail, IM and our AIM chat room on Sunday at 9:00 PM. It has been nice to make new friendships with people I knew 40 years ago. There is something unusual about being an alumni of WI isn't there? Just like the old song--WE ARE FAMILY!!!
We were born and lived in the last century (now doesn't that make us sound old) but we will adjust and grow in this changing world. This year saw many changes in our lives but without change there is nothing. Thanks to you who have encouraged me to continue this newsletter to keep us in touch. Many thanks to those who contributed and I hope more will contribute. We love hearing from all of you. Let's continue to keep in touch.
May the new year bring you health, happiness, and prosperity.
