THE 2009 CLARKSBURG PICNIC

Shown above are some of the Clarksburg people who gathered for the annual Reunion picnic in Sarasota, Florida. This year we had 145 attend the picnic. Let’s make it bigger next year!

Below are a few of the people who attended the picnic. Mark your calendars to be at the Clarksburg Picnic in Sarasota, Florida on March 6, 2010. This year, weather was perfect, the crowd was great….everything was perfect except I forgot the batteries for the megaphone which delayed our lunch for awhile. However, everyone seemed to enjoy their day. Seen in the background walking up to be the group is Bill Meredith and Bob Rector.

GALS FROM 1960 VISIT

This year The WI Class of 1960 had a large group at the picnic.

Here are a few sitting and visiting.

L to R..Standing in black top Becky Fowler Stalnaker, in lavender top Mary Marchio Godfrey, Sharon Wendler Jacobson, Pam Wolfe Brown, Linda Oliverio Kolosky,

MARSHA WOODS ROPER (WI 1959) AND HUSBAND GUY ROPER

It was so good to see Marsha and visit with her. I hadn’t seen her since 1961. See you at the reunion!

AMAZING!

If you had suggested 2 guys dress alike they would have really objected….but Jim Brown (WI 1957) and Don Sager (WI 1956) arrived at the picnic dressed exactly alike! Not just the shirt…the belt and the same color of pants! Inquiring minds want to know? Did they plan it?

THE FOOD!

I am sorry that lunch was so late this year. I forgot the batteries for the megaphone. Bill Meredith and Gene Day ran out and purchased some so we could get started. Late but the food was still great! We will eat earlier next time!

AND DESSERTS OF COURSE

THEY MADE THEIR HOT DOGS

THE MOST SEARCHED FOR FOOD ITEM :THE ULTIMATE HOT DOG

Yes, this was actually built to perfection (in his eyes) by a man from the Class of 1956……He ate the whole thing by himself…..Photograph by Don Sager.

This year the hot dogs were the best yet. A lot of you ask me for the recipe for the chili. I will say, I take a basic recipe and then keep working it until it tastes right to Bill and I. So I sort of make it like Moms always do, the taste and add method!

REGISTER PLEASE

Pictured below are the two volunteers who signed in people the second hour, left is Sharon Dillmore Smith (WI 1958) and Carol VanHorn Dean (WI 1958).

The first hour Sara Stephenson Laber (WI 1955) and Marta Jefferies Rice (WI 1955) helped sign in people.

Thanks to all the ladies.

SIZZLIN SUMMER

The 2009 Scholarship Quilt raised $1,103.00 for the WIN Scholarship which benefits some graduating seniors from RC Byrd High School. Here we are showing the beautiful quilt to the attendees…Front left Gigi Selby Meredith and right Roleta Smith Meredith (we don’t think these Merediths’ are related).

Notice the quilt squares resemble fireworks and the dark blue is the summer sky. The quilt pieces were each made by ladies who donate their talent and time to the scholarship. The quilt pieces are then positioned and planned out by Sue Selby Moats who also stitches the lovely quilt stitch pattern. This is the fourth quilt that Sue has organized, pieced, sewn and donated her time to completion. We are looking forward to the winter quilt

SELBY SISTERS SELLING SIZLIN SUMMER TICKETS
SAY THAT 3 TIMES REALLY FAST!

Sue Selby Moats and sister Gigi Selby Meredith sell quilt tickets at the Clarksburg Picnic. Purchasing her tickets is Martha Jefferies Rice.

THE WINNER IS:

Above Sue Selby Moats presents the 2009 Scholarship Quilt named “SIZZLIN’ SUMMER” to Beverly Ellis O’Grady (WI 1958)–wife of Larry O’Grady who would have graduated WI in 1955 but his family moved to Bridgeport before he graduated.
